Shayne Ward announces his Hollyoaks star partner is pregnant with second child

X Factor winner Shayne Ward has revealed that he's set to become a father for the second time with his Hollyoaks star fiancée Sophie Austin.

The 37-year-old former Coronation Street actrand his pregnant partner are expecting another baby girl after conceiving naturally after failed ITV attempt.

He told Hello! magazine: "'I would always say to Sophie 'I know in my gut and in my heart of hearts that we are going to have more children.'

"There was no two ways about it. We never gave up. It's been a whirlwind.

|I am on cloud nine. It's amazing that we're going to have another girl to add to the Ward clan."

Shayne went on to reveal that their daughter Willow, five, wants t name her little sister after Disney princess Aurora.

The singer turned actor explained: "We said to her: 'What have you always wanted?' And she said: 'A baby sister.'

"So we told her that there was one in mummy's tummy and her face just lit up. She had the biggest smile!"

Actress Sophie, who played Lindsey Butterfield in Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks, opened up the couple's gruelling experience of IVF.

She said: "It was one of the most emotionally draining things we have ever been through.

"And for Shayne, it was quite a hard process because he wasn't physically going through it but it was just as tough for him."

The soap star said she was buoyed by her partner's positive attitude.

'My mental health was probably on the floor," Sophie said.

"If it hadn't been for Shayne and Willow… I've never felt so depressed and low in my whole life.

"I think it was Shayne's positivity and belief that kept me going. I would be saying: 'We need to accept this might not happen' and he would refuse."

Shayne and Sophie began dating in 2016 and the pair welcomed Willow in December the same year.

The pair got engaged in 2017.

Sharing the exciting news on social media the thrilled bride and groom-to-be wrote: “#MrsWardtobe."

Shayne is best known for his role as Aidan Connor in Coronation Street from 2015 to 2018 and 2021.

He rose to fame as the winner of the second series of The X Factor in 2005.
