Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello not on board with Trump supporter fans
Some Donald Trump supporters have adopted Rage Against The Machine’s Killing In The Name as their soundtrack – but it seems they may have missed the point of the song.
Rage Against The Machine’s guitarist Tom Morello is doing a major eye-roll after seeing a video of Trump supporters toting Blue Lives Matter flags dancing to the anti-racism and anti-police brutality anthem.
A video from attorney Manny Alicandro began circulating on social media, showing two Trump supporters in Philadelphia rocking out to Killing In The Name.
One man in the video, wearing a US flag t-shirt, waved a giant Trump flag, while a similarly dressed woman wore a Blue Lives Matter – supporting the police force – as a cape.
It seemed the pair had entirely missed the point of the 1992 protest song, which features the lyric: ‘Some of those that work forces are the same that burn crosses.’
The song also features the lyrics: ‘Those who died are justified, for wearing the badge, they’re the chosen whites’ – so it’s unsurprising that Morello is a bit baffled as to why these particular people like the song so much.
Got to secure the bag.
