Former One Direction alum Harry Styles has successfully carved out his own piece of the industry since the band came to an end. Just a year after the conclusion of One Direction, Styles released his first album, a self-titled collection of competent pop songs. 2017’s Harry Styles did well, reaching number one in various countries, selling over one million copies, and reaching platinum status in the likes of the US, Australia, and Canada. Last year’s second album from the 26-year-old, Fine Line, broke even more barriers for the young star.

Fine Line was the star’s second solo album to reach number one, and also reached platinum status.

The record was also nominated for Album of the Year at the 2020 Brit Awards.

This year saw the release of the single, Golden, from Fine Line, which came accompanied with a new music video.

Golden’s music video reached millions of views in just 24 hours, cementing Styles’ unwavering popularity.

Since then, fans have been yearning for new information regarding a third album from the former 1D star.

No word has been given just yet on what is coming from Styles, but fans may have just been given their first clue.

A recent interview with Styles saw him speaking about his musical influences.

During the chat, the interviewer commented on some new music the Watermelon Sugar star has been working on.

The article says: “In the music he has been working on in 2020, Styles wants to capture the experimental spirit that informed his second album.”

This may mean the star has been working hard on new music throughout 2020 during lockdown. Will fans hear this new material soon?

Speaking about his debut album, he went on to say: “I was very much finding out what my sound was as a solo artist.

“I can see all the places where it almost felt like I was bowling with the bumpers up. I think with the second album I let go of the fear of getting it wrong and … it was really joyous and really free.”

Styles added: “I think with music it’s so important to evolve – and that extends to clothes and videos and all that stuff.

“That’s why you look back at David Bowie with Ziggy Stardust or the Beatles and their different eras – that fearlessness is super inspiring.”

Later in the same interview, Styles spoke about his time in One Direction.

The Sign of the Times singer explained he wouldn’t “apologise” for being in the band.

Styles said: “I loved my time in [One Direction]. It was all new to me, and I was trying to learn as much as I could. I wanted to soak it in.

“I think that’s probably why I like traveling now – soaking stuff up.”

He explained that being in the band also improved his love for recording music, as he added: “After a show you’d go in a hotel room and put down some vocals.”
