Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s baby daughter name mocked by TV presenter
Australian television presenter Karl Stefanovic has taken a savage swipe at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for naming their newborn daughter Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor.
The 46-year Today host claimed that the little girl's first name reminds him of a "betting app".
Some of Australia's most popular betting apps include Unibet, Sportsbet and Pointsbet.
He made the dig on Monday during a interview with former Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan, who has been outspoken about Meghan and Harry following their decision to quit the royal family and move to America.
Karl asked Piers: "What did you think of the name Lilibet? Does it sounds like a sports betting app?"
The former newspaper editor also 46, responded to the question by mocking the "irony" of Harry and Meghan's decision to use The Queen's nickname, after the couple spent weeks "trashing the royal family and the monarchy".
"I think it's quite ironic, isn't it?" he said.
"You have this couple who have been trashing the royal family and the monarchy for the last few weeks and they have named the baby after the Queen."
The bundle of joy entered the world of Friday and the couple confirmed her arrival on Sunday afternoon.
Lilibet is Queen Elizabeth's favourite nickname while the baby has also been given a middle name paying tribute to Harry's beloved mum.
Her Majesty, 95, had reportedly already given her blessing for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to use the name for their daughter before she was born.
The Queen struggled to pronounce her own name, Elizabeth, when she was a young princess so resorted to saying 'Lillibet'.
But it stuck, with dad King George VI and other members of the Royal Family affectionately calling her by the nickname for years after.
Harry and Meghan’s new baby daughter – the Queen’s 11th great-grandchild – will be known as Lili.
A variation on Lily, the flower is often seen to symbolise purity, commitment, rebirth and fertility.
Lili’s middle name Diana honours Harry’s later mother Diana, Princess of Wales.
It is no surprise the couple chose to pay tribute to Diana, who died in a car crash in 1997 when Harry was just 12.
Lili has been born almost a month before the princess would have celebrated her 60th birthday on July 1.
Prince William and Kate Middleton's daughter Princess Charlotte also has Diana as one of her middle names, as well as Elizabeth.
A statement on Harry and Meghan's Archewell Foundation website read: "It is with great joy that Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, welcome their daughter, Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, to the world.
"Lili was born on Friday, June 4 at 11.40am in the trusted care of the doctors and staff at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, CA.
"She weighed 7 lbs 11 oz. Both mother and child are healthy and well, and settling in at home.

"Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet. Her middle name, Diana, was chosen to honor her beloved late grandmother, The Princess of Wales.
"This is the second child for the couple, who also have a two-year-old son named Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
"The Duke and Duchess thank you for your warm wishes and prayers as they enjoy this special time as a family."
