Halsey Reveals The Truth About Her Pregnancy
Halsey surprised fans everywhere when she announced she was expecting her first child with boyfriend Alev Aydin back in January 2021 in a series of baby bump photos posted to her Instagram. “Surprise!” she simply captioned the post, along with emojis of a baby bottle, a rainbow, and a baby.
The singer’s pregnancy news comes after she was previously candid about her reproductive health struggles with Rolling Stone in 2016. During her interview, Halsey revealed she’d suffered a miscarriage while on tour the year before. “I want to be a mom more than I want to be a pop star,” she said. “More than I want to be anything in the world.”
Three years later, in 2019, Halsey told Rolling Stone she was considering freezing her eggs as she worried her struggles with endometriosis could affect her chances of having a baby. “For a long time, I didn’t think that having a family was something I was going to be able to do, and it’s very, very important to me,” she said.

Halsey said her pregnancy was '100% planned'
Halsey previously opened up about her pregnancy via Instagram on Feb. 18, 2021, sharing what her experience has been like thus far. She explained that she’s been reflecting on the changes her body is undergoing, admitting, “It’s strange to watch yourself change so quickly” and that she believed carrying a child would give her “very strong, binary feelings about ‘womanhood.'” Instead, the singer said it “leveled my perception of gender entirely” and that the “sensitivity to my body has made me hyper aware of my humanness.”
At the time, Halsey did not detail her conception timeline nor what led to she and boyfriend Alev Aydin’s decision to have a baby. However, on March 1, 2021, she shut down any speculation or judgement surrounding her pregnancy, revealing that it was “100% planned.” According to People, the mom-to-be wrote on her Instagram Story, “Why is it ok to speculate and pass judgement about fertility and conception? My pregnancy was 100% planned, and I tried very hard for this bb.” Halsey added, “But I would be just as happy even if it were another way.”
