Denise Van Outen ‘really proud of herself’ for walking away from Eddie Boxhall

Denise Van Outen has candidly spoken about the reasons she split from her long-term boyfriend Eddie Boxshall in January.

The pair broke up after she reportedly discovered that he had been having phone sex with other women and going on secret dates.

Denise has said she is “really proud” of herself for walking away and added: “I don't like to be taken advantage of.”

Speaking on Radio 2, the 47-year-old shared: "Sometimes it's been to the detriment of my own career or in my own relationships, but I just feel like it's really important as a woman to have self-worth and self-respect.”

The Chicago actress also said that now she is a mum she needs to be a “role model” for her daughter, Betsy, 11, and has to “set a good example”.

Denise added: “The bad times are always followed by good times and that's what I always look forward to.

“I think you just ride the wave of the bad times knowing that eventually, you will get to a good place.”

Denise confirmed the split on Instagram.

She said: "Over the past couple of months, there has been much speculation regarding my relationship with Eddie.

"It saddens me to confirm that we are no longer a couple. I had to make the difficult decision not to continue in our relationship.

“I will always treasure the good times we spent together, and the memories made. We ask that you please respect our privacy at this time, especially for our children.”

But apparently, Eddie, 48, who starred alongside Denise in Celebrity Gogglebox, is “desperate” to win her back and posted a gushing message about her on International Women’s Day.

He said: “Regardless of us sadly going our separate ways I have to acknowledge that in our wonderful 7 and a half year relationship I witnessed the hardest working and most driven woman in her business and amazing mummy to Betsy #neverstops #upmostrespect.”
