Dawn French rakes in millions after flogging incredible Cornwall mansion
Dawn French has made a whopping £4.3million after selling her Cornwall mansion to entrepreneur Sir Christopher Evans.
The Vicar of Dibley star bought the stunning mansion in 2006 for £2.3million with then-husband and fellow actor Lenny Henry.
After their divorce in 2010, the comedian remained in the house with their daughter Billie, and current husband Mark Bignell later joined them.
Last year, the 64-year-old sold it for £6.6million, nearly triple the amount she bought it for 16 years ago.
The historic three-storey Point Neptune House overlooks the harbour in Fowey which biotech businessman Sir Christopher Evans, who is worth an estimated £208million, can now enjoy.
After reports emerged that she was selling the Grade-II listed building, a source said: "Yes, Dawn is selling up, but she’s very much staying in Cornwall. She just wanted a change."
The mum of one has strong ties to the county and was made Chancellor of Falmouth University in 2015.
Speaking to Falmouth graduates last year, the comedian gave a heart-warming message and said: "You may leave Cornwall, but she never ever leaves you."
Despite saying goodbye to the idyllic home she happily lived in for 15 years, the French & Saunders star hasn’t fully left Cornwall behind as she recently purchased a waterside property which is located on the Devon and Cornwall border.
Dawn and husband Mark, whom she married in 2013, have reportedly already started making changes to the £1.7 million property.
Dawn’s original home is considered one of the most desirable houses in Cornwall, however, it was rumoured that the increasing popularity in Fowey is what caused the couple to opt for a quieter life.
A friend of the comedian said: "Dawn will always love Fowey and spent 15 very happy years living there.”
They explained that Dawn will thoroughly “miss all the locals who made her feel so welcome” when she first moved into the seaside town.
And Dawn clearly loves living down south, as she regularly shares incredible snaps of the beautiful patches of nature she encounters while out and about.
Recently she shared snaps of flowers in bloom with her legion of followers, joking: "Usual nature crap ruining my walk…"
She added: "Cheerfully Springy as hell here…"
