Back in 1983, David Bowie starred opposite Susan Sarandon in Gothic vampire movie The Hunger. Now in a new interview, the Thelma and Louise icon has confirmed the rumour that the pair were lovers around that time. But, of course, Bowie went on to marry supermodel Iman who he had daughter Lexi with.

Speaking with You, Sarandon confirmed they did keep in touch over the years.

The 75-year-old said: “Yeah. Not that we hung out a lot – he had a number of health issues to deal with – but we did.”

Bowie died of liver cancer on January 10, 2016, but had not made his condition public when diagnosed 18 months prior.

Sarandon remembered: “I was fortunate enough to be closer to him right before he died, the last couple of months.”
