Coronation Street star Charles Lawson pulls out of two more performances after falling ill on stage
Coronation Street star Charles Lawson has been forced to drop out of more stage performances after falling in during his run of play Long Shadows.
The Jim McDonald actor fell ill mid-performance on Monday (October 8) and had to be helped from the stage after forgetting his lines, with understudy Neil McKinven stepping in. He subsequently cancelled a second night.
Unfortunately, the soap veteran still needs more time to recover and thus won’t be appearing at the King’s Theatre in Edinburgh in matinee or evening performances on Wednesday (October 10), reports The Scotsman.

A statement from producers said: “Doctors have advised that Mr Lawson should not perform today and so Neil McKinven will perform the part of Rebus. Mr Lawson will be back on stage as soon as possible.”
There is no specific timetable yet for when Lawson is expected to be back on stage. This unfortunate bout of ill health occurred just as his controversial on-screen return as Jim McDonald in Corrie reaches its boiling point.
In Wednesday’s double bill, Jim’s ex-wife will finally discover that he’s been scamming her with Hannah Gilmore (Hannah Ellis Ryan), who’d been posing as their long-dead daughter Katie to con Liz out of her life savings.
The storyline has only been a temporary return to the ITV soap for Charles Lawson because of his stage commitments and other projects in the works.
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
