Sorry, Captain Marvel's Brie Larson hasn't signed up for seven Marvel movies

Brie Larson will be taking up the mantle of Captain Marvel beginning early next year, but reports that she has already signed on for seven Marvel movies are off the mark.

The Hollywood Reporter made the claim on Thursday (October 11) in a report which also purports that Scarlett Johansson is being paid $15 million for the solo Black Widow movie.

The report says that Larson’s $5 million deal for Captain Marvel “locks her into multiple franchises” in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – but Larson denied this on social media.

One Marvel fan account expressed excitement that Larson has apparently signed a “seven-film, multi-franchise deal”. The actress responded: “Counterpoint: this is not true.”

A Marvel spokesperson dismissed the report (including Johansson’s pay) as well, saying: “Marvel Studios disputes the accuracy of these numbers, and as a matter of policy, we never publicly disclose salaries or deal terms.”

In September, Marvel released a full official trailer of Larson as Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel in the upcoming superhero movie. Production has wrapped on the project.

Captain Marvel will be released in the UK and US on March 8, 2019.

Avengers: Infinity War is available to buy on Blu-ray, DVD or digital download. Avengers 4 will be released in the UK on April 26, 2019, and in the US on May 3, 2019.
