Fantastic Beasts 2's Eddie Redmayne urges fans to #ProtectTheSecrets of the sequel
Fantastic Beasts 2 star Eddie Redmayne has pleaded with fans not to spoil the movie’s secrets.
Redmayne portrays magizoologist Newt Scamander in the Harry Potter spin-off franchise, this time around rubbing shoulders with Jude Law’s young Albus Dumbledore and Johnny Depp’s evil wizard Gellert Grindelwald.
However, in a world dominated by social media and spoilers becoming easily accessible, the Oscar-winning actor has shared a message for moviegoers to keep things a secret.
Uploaded to the sequel’s official Twitter account, Redmayne comments in the video: “Guys, I’m holding a badge which is a hashtag to protect those damn secrets written on it.
“And please, I’m imploring you, if you go and see Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, there are a few Easter Eggs and spoilers that are so intense, so please, please, please don’t ruin it for others.
“So #ProtectTheSecrets and see you soon.”
Aside from words of social wisdom, Redmayne has previously discussed why he felt “short-changed” following the first Fantastic Beasts movie.
“As someone who has grown up watching all of JK Rowling’s films, I had always dreamt of going to Hogwarts and I felt a little short-changed that I didn’t get to go to Hogwarts, so in this film I get to go to Hogwarts,” he said.
“We all get to meet Dumbledore, who Jude Law plays, and he has this amazing, quixotic, eccentric joy to him.”
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald will be released in UK and US cinemas on November 16, 2018.
