Fantastic Beasts 2's Claudia Kim wants Harry Potter fans to see "another side" of Nagini after backlash

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald‘s Claudia Kim wants Harry Potter fans to see “another side” of Nagini following the backlash of her casting.

It was revealed in the film’s final trailer that Kim’s character is, in fact, Lord Voldermort’s pet snake and Horcrux.

It’s a creative decision that was met by much criticism from fans, with many considering it to be negative representation of an asian female character.

However, speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Kim expressed her enthusiasm for fans to witness Nagini’s backstory.

“I think It would be so interesting to see another side of Nagini,” she said. “You’ve only seen her as Horcrux. In this, she’s a wonderful and vulnerable woman who wants to live, she wants to stay a human being and I think that’s a wonderful contrast to the character.”

Ezra Miller (Justice League), who plays Credence Barebone, was also keen to build excitement for the character of Nagini, added: “You’re about to get your head blown off. There’s going to be a venom in your veins that you’ll feel just like love. Prepare yourselves for Nagini. This is a tragic and beautiful story that in some ways we already know the end of.”

One thing Kim is not see keen for fans to see, however, is her audition tape for the role, where she pretends to turn into a snake without the help of any special effects.

“If I find it, I will destroy it!” she said.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald will be released in UK and US cinemas on November 16, 2018.
