Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman Trinity film ‘depends on Justice League Snyder Cut success’

Justice League The Snyder Cut: Sneak peek at four-part film

When Batman v Superman and Justice League first hit cinemas both DC movies were critically-panned and box office disappointments. However, the success of Wonder Woman and Aquaman’s solo outings have kept Warner Bros’ DCEU franchise afloat. And now with Zack Snyder’s Justice League arriving in just a couple of months, the future is looking bright for Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill to share the screen once again with Gal Gadot.

Geekosity report that not only is a World’s Finest Batman and Superman movie starring Affleck and Cavill in discussion, but also a Trinity movie with Gadot’s Wonder Woman.

However, the scooper makes it clear their sources say such films, especially with Batfleck’s involvement, are dependant on the success of the Justice League Snyder Cut on HBO Max.

They reported: “DC Films bases their decisions on success; if it works, produce more. This differs from Marvel Studios which has their future already mapped out years in advance.

“DC Films has a ‘wait and see’ philosophy; a more conservative approach which explains so many movies linked to Batman in some fashion.”

They added: “In that regard, there’s been talk of World’s Finest expanding into Trinity. Trinity was a DC comic book that debuted in 2008.”

Of course, Robert Pattinson is now simultaneously the Dark Knight, starring in The Batman – which is set in another universe – next year. But with The Flash movie exploring the DC multiverse perhaps both will share the screen?

After all, Marvel Studios and Sony are introducing similar storylines with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Web Slingers returning in this year’s untitled Spider-Man 3 with Tom Holland and a whole host of past villains and characters.

Plus there’s 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness to look forward to as well.

The Batman: Robert Pattinson stars in dramatic first trailer

Here’s hoping both Pattinson and Affleck’s Bruce Waynes will team up with the returning Michael Keaton Batman of the 1980s in 2022’s The Flash.

Unlike Batfleck’s older Dark Knight, The Batman takes place in the Caped Crusader’s second year as a vigilante.

While Wonder Woman 1984 is currently in open cinemas, 2021 will also see the release of James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad alongside the Justice League Snyder Cut.

Then in 2022, we’ll get Aquaman 2 and The Flash multiverse movie as mentioned.

Wonder Woman 3 confirmed: Gadot and Jenkins return for last movie [WONDER WOMAN 3]

While 2023 brings us sequel Shazam! Fury of the Gods and The Rock’s Black Adam movie is in the works.

Additionally, Wonder Woman 3 has been announced with Patty Jenkins returning to direct.

Fans can expect Gadot’s third solo outing to be set in the present day or possibly even the future.

Back in September, insiders claimed that Cavill had signed a new deal to return for three DC movies as the Man of Steel.

According to TCN, the Superman star made a pitch himself, one that was “widely praised”.

Right now it’s not clear what the three movies and possible cameos could be. But one of these could certainly be another Superman solo outing following Man of Steel.

Perhaps World’s Finest and Trinity were also discussed and maybe even that rumoured team-up with Pattinson’s The Batman?

Hopefully, Warner Bros will reveal more of their plans for the future of the DCEU following the release of the Justice League Snyder Cut, rumoured for release in March.
