Zoe Kravitz Shares Telling Post Amid Divorce News
Actress Zoë Kravitz made the first shocking announcement of 2021, when a rep confirmed to People that she and husband Karl Glusman were splitting up after 18 months of marriage. The Big Little Lies breakout star, filed for divorce on Dec. 23. The couple was first linked back in October 2016, and wed in June 2019 at her father, Lenny Kravitz’s, Paris home. Glusman originally intended to propose in the city of love too, but popped the question at home instead, as the actress told Rolling Stone in 2018.
At the time, Kravitz admitted she wanted to keep the relationship private and for the most part, it has remained as such. Last summer, she celebrated 12 months of wedded bliss with a sweet Instagram throwback to their big day, writing alongside it, “One year.” Glusman shared his own since-deleted tribute, noting, “I love you. More than anything.” Although it seemed as though all was well between the two, Kravitz’s latest post suggests there was trouble in paradise for quite some time.
Zoe Kravitz hinted that things weren't right with her marriage
As Us Weekly reports, Kravitz posted a meme to her Instagram story featuring Drag Race alum, A’Keria C. Davenport. The image showed the drag queen putting a bag of garbage into a dumpster and the bag was labeled, “People places and things that no longer serve my greatest and highest good.” The Big Little Lies star captioned it simply, “Mood.” Likewise, she posted a photo of the moon, writing alongside it, “New year/little things.” A fan also noted on Twitter that Kravitz filed for divorce on Glusman’s birthday. Ouch. Her soon-to-be ex seemingly hinted that things weren’t well between them in his anniversary post, which advised, “Not the year we expected… but I feel like if we can make it through this, we can take on anything.”
Although Kravitz is super private about her marriage, Us Weekly notes she admitted to being frustrated by the pressure from outsiders during a recent appearance on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast. “A lot of people ask the question, ‘When are you gonna have a baby?’ or say things like, ‘When’s the baby?’ and I really get offended by people assuming that’s something that I have to do because society says so,” she revealed. The actress added, “Right now, I’m certainly not in a place where I think I’m able to do that just because of work. Also, man, I don’t know, I like my free time.” It’s possible we’ll never know why these two called it quits, but suffice to say this evidently wasn’t as much of a surprise as it seemed.
