Will and Kate Couldn't Keep It Together During Their First Joint Royal Event In Months

Look, we’re not saying “Cutest Royal Couple of 2018” is a contest. But we’re not not saying that, either.

For the sake of argument, let’s say it is a contest. Though it looked like a clear runaway for newlyweds Meghan Markle and Prince Harry (that honey moon glow is truly an advantage), the Duke and Duchess of Sussex aren’t pulling away quite yet — they’ve got Will and Kate on their heels now.

Middleton has just returned from her maternity leave, meaning she’s officially back on the royal duty circuit after giving birth to Prince Louis in April. Her first stop was a school yard, where she hammed it up with some kiddos, followed by Tuesday morning’s outing in London, where she and Will visited the Global Ministerial Health Summit the day before World Mental Health Day.

Though Kate + kids is a surefire formula for cuteness, Kate + Will is also pretty darn reliable. They amped up the cuteness on Tuesday when they were photographed laughing hysterically … a lot.

Here they are sitting on a comically large bench, which is a replica of the “friendship benches” used in a program in Zimbabwe, which, according to People, “has taught elderly women the skills to become lay health workers” and administer “therapy sessions.”

And here they are pointing at a work of art, “Someone to Turn To,” which was inspired by the Global Ministerial Health Summit:

The Colombian-born contemporary painter of the piece, Dairo Vargas, invited the couple to add a few strokes to the unfinished canvas. At that point, Will turned to Kate and said, “My wife, she’s the arty one!” (He’s not wrong — Middleton nabbed a degree in art history from the University of St. Andrews before joining the Royal Family.)

From the looks of the photographs, the day seemed to be a success in more ways than one.
