When Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank Met, It Was Love at First Sight
With the second royal wedding of the year less than a week away, it’s easy to get caught up in the fairytale of it all. But let’s take a step back, as every great love story has a beginning, and Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s initial meeting is one for the books.
In 2010, the happy couple met at Verbier, a Swiss holiday resort that Eugenie has vacationed at for years with her mother, the Duchess of York, and her sister, Princess Beatrice. Brooksbank, who was 24 years old and a waiter at the time, described their meeting as “love at first sight” while speaking with the BBC.
“We met when I was 20 and Jack was 24 and fell in love,” Eugenie added during the pair’s engagement interview in January. “We have the same passions and drive for life.”
A close friend to the couple weighed in on their first intro and confirmed that they were basically meant to be. “There was an immediate attraction and since that meeting, they have barely been apart,” the source told The Daily Mail.
Three years into the duo’s relationship, Eugenie left London for New York to work for online auction house Paddle8. Despite the distance, Jack and Eugenie made it work. “We spend a lot of time on Skype,” Jack told The Daily Mail at the time. “It’s great. We are still very much together.”

In September 2016, Brooksbank was invited to join the Queen and other members of the royal family at Balmoral in Scotland, which sparked engagement rumors, as not just anyone is allowed to stay with the Queen.
“You could call this weekend a rite of passage for Jack. There is no way he would be invited to stay with the Queen unless he was being welcomed into the royal fold and the bosom of the family,” an insider explained to the Daily Express.
Fast forward less than two years later, and the couple marked their engagement with a cute video on the Royal Family’s YouTube channel, and the rest, they say is history.
How sweet! Don’t forget to tune in to watch the couple exchange vows on Oct. 12 at 9:25 a.m. local time, or 4:25 a.m. ET.
