Walker’s hilarious response as 10,000 people sign Maguire £50 note petition
Over 10,000 people have signed a petition to have Harry Maguire riding a unicorn on the new £50 note… and Kyle Walker couldn’t help but troll his England teammate.
The Bank of England are to re-design the £50 note and people have been suggesting historical figures that could be on the currency.
One Twitter user suggested the picture of Maguire, which was taken during England’s run to the World Cup semi-finals in Russia over the summer.
And it has gained traction with over 10,000 people now putting their name to the movement.
A picture of Walker with his legs in the air, seemingly suffering from cramp, after the Three Lions’ penalty shootout win over Colombia was also one of the images of the tournament.
And the Manchester City full-back tweeted a £5 note with that snap, writing: "Make it happen England! I’ll be happy on a fiver. Plus a bigger amount needs a bigger head…"
Walker accompanied the tweet with a link to the Maguire petition.
Maguire was quick to spot Walker had used an image of the old £5 note, replying: "Can’t even make the new fiver!"
But Walker wasn’t done there.
He retorted with an image of Maguire, which was a hugely popular meme throughout the summer, talking to his girlfriend after a match.
The former Tottenham right-back wrote an imaginary conversation, in which Maguire’s girlfriend refers to Walker as "a ten".
And that, my friends, is 21st century football.
