There Is Now Wu Tang Lipstick

Wu-Tang has stressed the importance of making that C.R.E.A.M. since 1993. However, nothing screams “cash rules everything around me” quite like wearing a $55 lipstick from the Clan’s new collection with Milk Makeup.

Yes, you read that right. Milk Makeup teamed up with the legendary New York rap group for its first-ever collaboration that launches today. The result is eight lipsticks in colors intended to inspire the “wisdom, beauty, and strength” of Wu-Tang fans, or Wu Warriors as they’re more commonly known.

To bring the Wu-Tang culture alive, the brand tapped Teyana Taylor to star in the collection’s campaign video:

The colors, which were created by Talani Diggs, wife of Wu-Tang member Rza, and the Milk Makeup development team, come in three finishes: high shine, matte, and glitter. They were named after the eight earthly elements of the I Ching Trigrams as a nod to Wu-Tang’s obsession with Shaolin Kung Fu culture. The shades range from “Sacred,” a sparkly rose gold to “Fire,” a vibrant orange-red.

Just like the rest of Milk’s line, the lipsticks are 100-percent vegan and cruelty-free. The formula’s enriched with antioxidant-packed lotus water, cherry blossom, and ginseng to protect lips from free radicals, plus energize any Wu Warrior. They’re housed in black and gold tubes with a dragon-sculpted barrel that gets unleashed whenever you pop open the cap. You can purchase the entire eight-piece collection for $440, or individually for $55.

But, that’s not all. It’s important to protect ya neck — especially when applying a lipstick that’s inevitably going to bring da ruckus. That’s why the Wu-Tang x Milk Makeup collection also includes a limited-edition mirror, too. The 24-K gold-plated mirror is shaped like the group’s logo, and it will set you back $75.

Ok, so how did this seemingly random beauty collaboration even happen?! According to a press release from the brand, it all started when Wu-Tang performed at New York Fashion Week party thrown by Milk Studios in 2012. Since both Milk and Wu-Tang originated in New York and have deep roots in the city’s culture, their friendship — and eventually this collection — somehow makes sense.
