Smashing Pumpkins Debut Unreleased Machina Recording
The Smashing Pumpkins have released the first clip of unreleased material from the reissue of Machina.
The first clip released is an alternate instrumental version of “Wound.”
Machina/The Machines Of God and Machina II/The Friends & Enemies Of Modern Music were originally released 18 years ago.
Earlier, Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan had suggested that the band could record new songs for the re-release of the pair albums. The two albums will be “released together as originally conceived,” Corgan revealed in a Q&A session on Instagram.
The band had originally wanted to launch the two albums together as a double album. Instead, Machina/The Machines Of God was released in February 2000 and was followed up in September of that year by Machina II/The Friends & Enemies Of Modern Music as a free internet download.
“The good news is that the archive on ‘Machin’a is easily the most documented of the first five SP LP’s,” wrote Corgan on Instagram. “The bad news is there is simply so much to go through that it’s hard to keep track. Given the high interest, I will endeavour to parse out the process.”
The Smashing Pumpkins are also set to release their new album, Shiny And Oh So Bright, Vol. 1/LP: No Past. No Future. No Sun on November 9.
