ITV yesterday announced Piers Morgan, 55, had quit Good Morning Britain after five years. He followed up this announcement with a freedom of speech post on Twitter, telling fans he stood by his Meghan Markle comments. Today, he was replaced by Ranvir Singh on the show after his sudden exit. This morning, he was pictured stepping out of his London home with his daughter Elise.
I had a good chat with ITV and we agreed to disagree
The presenter was dressed in casual wear with trainers, as he addressed reporters outside his house.
He said of his exit: “I had a good chat with ITV and we agreed to disagree.
“I’m just going to take it easy and see how we go.
“I believe in freedom of speech, I believe in the right to be allowed to have an opinion. If people want to believe Meghan Markle, that’s entirely their right.

“I don’t believe almost anything that comes out of her mouth and I think the damage she’s done to the British monarchy and to the Queen at a time when Prince Philip is lying in hospital is enormous and frankly contemptible.”
On Twitter today, fans reacted to his exit with many demanding the controversial presenter should return to the show.
One wrote: “I agree, #bringbackpiers.
“He has a right to free speech and a right to voice his opinion.”
A second commented: “@GMB is an absolute shame this morning. #bringbackpiers.”
A third wrote: “Not liking gmtv today sorry #bringbackpiers.”(sic)
Kevin Mackenzie added: “So sad that hugely talented @piersmorgan has told ITV to shove their job and walked out on GMB in the wake of his spectacular rants about Meghan.
“Love to see the ratings and the ad dollars with Alex Beresford running the show. It’s now dead. #BringBackPiers.”
Many more Twitter users mocked the #BringBackPiers trend and shared snaps of their favourite seaside piers instead.

Piers left the show yesterday after clashing with Alex Beresford over his Meghan Markle comments.
The former said he didn’t believe a word Meghan said during her interview with Oprah Winfrey.
The Duchess of Sussex reflected on her life in the Royal Family and said she felt suicidal.
After storming off of the set, he returned to interview Meghan’s dad Thomas Markle.
Later that evening, ITV released a statement confirming he had quit.
A spokesperson said: “Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain.
“ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add.”
The Sun claimed a source from the company said Piers was asked to apologise for his comments, but he refused to do so.
Speaking out on Twitter, he wrote in view of his 7.8 million followers: “On Monday, I said I didn’t believe Meghan Markle in her Oprah interview.
“I’ve had time to reflect on this opinion, and I still don’t. If you did, OK.
“Freedom of speech is a hill I’m happy to die on. Thanks for all the love, and hate.
“I’m off to spend more time with my opinions.”
