This Morning presenter Phillip Schofield, 59, hit out at Matthew Wright, 55, after he took a swipe at the Friends cast’s appearance. The highly anticipated reunion trailer aired yesterday ahead of the show’s comeback next week.

Phillip fumed at This Morning guest Matthew, accusing him of fat-shaming the stars of the sitcom.

The ITV presenter joined his co-host Holly Willoughby as they chatted on today’s programme about the Friends reunion.

Matthew cheekily quipped: “You can see who’s been eating all the pies, can’t you?”

Phillip reacted to his comment and warned him to stop being judgemental of others.

He exclaimed: “Oh you’re so mean. Stop judging people so horribly. Look at your b****y ponytail!”

Holly agreed, as she echoed a similar sentiment, saying: “So mean!”

Matthew was joined on the ITV daytime show by fellow guest Julia Hartley-Brewer to discuss the latest headlines.

Holding up his hands, he commented: “I’m just saying. I still fancy Lisa Kudrow.

“Lisa Kudrow is still absolutely beautiful, looks untouched by surgeon’s hands which only adds to her appeal.”

Phil replied: “Oh, you are shocker!”

Fans flocked to social media as some people shared their concerns over Matthew’s comments.

One penned: “#ThisMorning lovely bit of body shaming from Matthew Wright. Not something to laugh at, it’s something to correct. Millions of viewers, don’t let any of them think it’s acceptable.”

“Did he really just say ‘You can see whose been eating all the pies?’ People aren’t going to look the same as they did in their late 20s in their 50s,” another remarked.

A third commented: “So disappointed. Every person mentioned in the past five minutes has been judged on part on their appearance. It was JUST mental health awareness week. DO BETTER.”

“Fat shaming on TV in 2021! Not cool Matthew Wright!” another penned.

While another commented: “I always look forward to you on @thismorning Matthew. Voice of reason and a great sense of humour.”

“Lovely to see you back on the television,” another remarked.

The official trailer for Friends: The Reunion has been released, ahead of the programme being broadcast in the US next week.

The opening scene was certainly familiar as Jennifer Aniston joined Courteney Cox and Matt LeBlanc on their old couch for an updated trivia game, with David Schwimmer, Lisa and Matthew Perry.

The episode will be broadcast in the US on Thursday as a one-off unscripted special, featuring a string of celebrity guests.

It is unclear when the episode will be available to watch in the UK.
