Peter Andre reveals why he attended Pride of Britain Awards solo

Peter Andre says he was hoping to bring son Junior along to the Pride of Britain Awards.

The star usually attends the annual ceremony with wife Emily, but she was unable to make it due to work commitments.

Speaking exclusively to Mirror Online, Peter said: “I usually don’t do to something without Emily, because we always look forward to this but because it fell on a night when she was working I said I still had to go.

“It’s the one event that I love to be a part of because I absolutely love what it stands for and as you can see, it’s getting bigger and better every year, because people feel compelled to come because that’s what it stands for.”

Peter added: “Emily works for the NHS so it’s not like she can just say she’s having the night off.

“She’s wonderful, she’s always smiling, which probably is the reason why I’m always smiling.

“That does help.”

Peter also said he was hoping to bring his 13-year-old son Junior, who he shares with ex-wife Katie Price , along to the ceremony but wasn’t allowed.

He told us: “I wanted to bring Junior tonight, he really wanted to come, but I was told that you have to be 18 unless you’re being awarded.

“He really wanted to come and dress in a suit.”

Peter said Junior and his sister Princess, 11, who have been living with him for a while are “doing great”.
