Open Post: Hosted By Beer For Dogs
But who’s going to drive home now? *crest-fallen* The other Mr. Harvey treats our two dogs like they’re the Princes of Earth. They relax on only the biggest and fluffiest of dog beds. I’m pretty sure he only lets them drink spring water. Their dog food is pretty much at a “Gwyneth Paltrow’s pretentiousness” level of gourmet. It’s terrible! Without asking the questions, yes, he would rescue the dogs before me. And now, MY beer is going to be moved aside for beer for our dogs!
Good Boy Dog Beer is made by bar owners Megan and Steve Long of Houston, Texas. It’s beer for doggies. Now EVERY living creature in your home can be drunk at the same time, according to The Statesman. Just kidding, there’s no alcohol in it. (What’s the point, then?)
“Everyone likes the idea of having a beer with their dog, you know?” says Steve, who is 41. Still, while the Longs saw the potential in their brew from the very beginning, they had no idea it would take off so quickly. The entire idea began as a way to fix a problem in their own home.
It started when their 9-year-old Rottweiler, Rocky, was having stomach issues. So their vet suggested they start making him his own food. (Er, people have to work, Doc.) And the beer was one of the things they made that helped out his digestive problems.
The first beer they made is called the Mailman Malt Licker and includes “chicken, turmeric, ginger, oranges, carrots, basil, cilantro and fennel.”
They’ve got three types of beer now that they sell at their bar, and apparently, it’s selling well to other bars, too. People like to drink with their dogs? I don’t. They always look at me blankly like I’m doing something wrong and I can’t have that sort of judgement in my face.
