Normani Connects With 6lack On ‘Waves’
Normani has teamed up with 6lack for “Waves,” a new single off her upcoming debut album, which is due in the first quarter of 2019.
Normani, 6lack and Tayla Parx wrote “Waves,” which is about complicated love.
Normani sings, “First I blame you, then I want you / ****in’ hate you, then I love you / I can’t help myself, no.”
“You come in waves,” 6lack joins in, singing, “First I love you, then I hate you / I won’t dare try to replace you / I ain’t crazy, no.”
In a recent interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1, Normani said about 6lack, “I admire him as an artist, and he’s just amazing.” “He’s an amazing lyricist, and I feel like he took the record to a whole other level. I already love the record as is, but he totally exceeded any expectation I even had, which was pretty high, because I admire him as an artist.” Normani said 6lack’s “make love on a full moon” is her favorite lyric.
She hinted that Khalid would appear on the album. However, their hit “Love Lies,” which climbed to the top 10 on the Billboard 100 list, will not be included in it, she said.
The former Fifth Harmony singer recently teamed up with Calvin Harris for a couple of tracks.
