Miguel Pays Tribute To George Floyd With ‘Candles In The Sun’ Performance

Miguel recently paid tribute to George Floyd with an emotional performance of “Candles in the Sun” as part of the #CokeStudioSessions hosted on new live music streaming platform BeApp.

Towards the end of the song from his 2012 album Kaleidoscope Dream, Miguel laid face down on the ground with his hands behind his back to mimic Floyd’s position when he was killed by Minneapolis police.

“Hey, I say we’re all created equal/ That’s what they teach us/ But that ain’t how we treat each other/ Naw, that ain’t how we treat each other/ Sh–, the truth is that we need each other, yea,” Miguel croons as he continues to lay on the ground.

Miguel shared the moment in a post on Instagram after the arrest of former police officer Derek Chauvin, who was charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter in Floyd’s death.

“Officer Chauvin has been arrested . Now, we want ALL the rest of the officers involved arrested. AND convicted . CALL 6123244499,” Miguel captioned the video.
