Katie Piper has bravely shared unseen photos detailing the aftermath of her horrific acid attack in 2008.

The TV star, 36, was attacked with acid by her ex-boyfriend and an accomplice 12 years ago, leaving Katie to undergo pioneering surgery to repair her face and vision.

Taking to Instagram, Katie took part in the viral social media challenge of “how it started vs how it’s going”, which shows how far someone has come in their career or life.

Katie shared photos of herself in hospital with bandages covering her face while she’s attacked to several machines in bed following the devastating incident.

In the second photo, showing how far she’s come since then, Katie shared a snap of herself in a Pantene modelling campaign outside London’s Westfield shopping centre.

The post was met with praise from fans and fellow celebrities, with one writing: “What an inspiration you are.”

A second added: “Wow… What an amazingly beautiful lady….Turned that enormous negative into the biggest positive. We don't have to know you personally to be proud of you.”

While a third wrote: “That post has given me goosebumps – what a beautiful inspirational lady you are. How proud you and your family must be of your determination and passion for life.”

It comes after Katie opened up on her recent skin graft operation, saying the latest procedure was a “relief”.

Speaking to host Christine Lampard in July, Katie explained: "It's a week today [since the operation]. As soon as I finish talking to you I'm heading to the hospital to have this bandage removed, which I'm very happy about.

“It's getting a little bit itchy and hot, but itchy is always a sign of healing, so that's good."

Discussing homeschooling her children with Christine, Katie said: "That's challenging. I think mainly because of their age gap – one's two and one's six.
