Jamie Lynn Spears Finally Explained Why 'Zoey 101' Ended in 2008
Alright, I’m gonna need you to think back to 2008 for a hot sec: Remember when your favorite Nickelodeon TV show, Zoey 101, wrapped for good and you were left in shambles over it leaving the air? Right, well shortly after the series finale aired, it came out that Jamie Lynn Spears was expecting her first child at 16. A lot of fans blamed the end of the show on her pregnancy, but now, Jamie Lynn is speaking her truth and clarifying the actual truth.
In an interview with NYLON, Jamie said she disappeared from the limelight for five years following the backlash for two reasons: She didn’t have the chance to explain why the show was canceled, and she also wanted a chance to raise her daughter, Maddie Briann Aldridge, normally.
After the news of her pregnancy broke, Jamie Lynn packed her bags and moved to Mississippi for a chance at a new life.
“I got me a little house. I put a big gate up around it, and I was like, ‘I’m going to stay here, raise my baby, and figure this out because this is real life. I’ve put myself in this situation, I’m not condoning it or saying it’s right, but these are the cards that I have to play,'” she continued. “And I tried to do the best that I could. And yet, sure enough, everywhere I went in Mississippi for that whole nine months, there was always paparazzi on me everywhere I went. But I just knew that if I just stayed away from it long enough that I could give my child some sense of normalcy back in her life.”
Fast forward to now—the Zoey 101 reunion is a go and she’s dropping a re-recorded version of the show’s iconic theme song. All is good!
