Gogglebox star Nick Grimshaw spills on behind the scenes but ‘bosses want it kept secret’
Nick Grimshaw and his niece Liv have become firm fan favourites on Celebrity Gogglebox.
And now, the TV presenter, 37, who lives in a lavish London home with his dancer boyfriend, has revealed what it’s like filming the popular Channel 4 show – admitting producers like to keep things top secret.
“I really love Celebrity Gogglebox,” he told OK! at the 2022 NME Awards. “And I love working with Liv. I love that programme – it’s like my favourite thing on the telly.”
He continued: “They’re mad about keeping it secret! I’m not even joking. I put a picture up once [on social media] and they went mental!”
However, letting a few secrets slip, he told us: “We get free takeaways and free crisps. Anything we want!”
Nick, also known as Grimmy, has been keeping busy since quitting BBC Radio 1 six months ago after 14 years.
He’s teamed up with Emma Wilis to host a makeover show on Channel 4, which will see family homes transformed in just three days.
Announcing the news on Instagram, he wrote: “Ooooooh I am so excited to announce that me and @emmawillisofficial are joining forces for a brand new series on @channel4.
“As you know I am obsessed with all things design so cannot wait for you to see how we are gonna be transforming family homes across the UK.
“The Great Home Transformation is coming to your screens this spring.”

Opening up about the project with OK!, he said: “It’s exciting that it’s nearly out. I’ve always loved design. It was one of the things I always wanted to do. I wanted to do stage design, interior design and radio. So it’s nice to be able to do this now. And with Emma too – she’s so good.”
Meanwhile, Emma revealed further details about the makeover show on Instagram.
She said: “This Spring we will be transforming family homes across the country in just three days, with the help of a revolutionary truck, specialist technology and interior design intelligence.
Isn't that right @nicholasgrimshaw?! The #GreatHomeTransformation is coming soon to @channel4.'
Announcing his exit from the radio, Nick said on his show at the time: “I have some news guys, some big news. It's big news for me to announce. I want to do it at the start of the show otherwise I'll be weird for the next two hours.
“I've been thinking about it for a little while, after 14 years of working here I've made a big decision.”
He added: 'It a huge decision, an exciting one and a happy one. It's something I've given a lot of thought. Radio 1 is home to me. It's the only station I've wanted to work.
“I was thinking the past 18 months have been the most surreal moments ever. A lot of you guys, you take stock in times like this and look at your life. I looked at mine and I wanted to make that change.
“My childhood dream was to work on Radio 1 and I have been lucky enough to make that dream come true.
“It has been everything I'd imagined and even more. I grew up wanting to connect with people and to feel accepted and the Radio 1 listeners gave me that and let me be part of their daily life, for which I will be eternally grateful.
“But over the last few months I've been doing a lot of thinking about my future and after 14 years, I've made the decision that it's time for me to move on – I'd like to thank the listeners as without them none of this could have been possible and the Radio 1 family, who have been such a huge part of my life. Thank you thank you thank you.”
