Ed Sheeran Shares Poignant New Single 'Boat'
Ed Sheeran recently dropped a new single, “Boat,” from his upcoming new album.
“‘Boat’ is the first song I wrote and finished for Subtract, it’s where it all began, and a good way to kick off the album,” Sheeran wrote on Instagram announcing the single.
Sheeran also dropped a video for the song, which was directed by Mia Barnes. The video shows Sheeran amidst the waves on a British beach.
“They say that all scars heal, but I know maybe I won’t,” Sheeran sings. “The waves won’t break my boat.”
Sheeran’s fifth studio album, – pronounced Subtract, is slated for release on May 5, 2023.
“Boat” follows lead single “Eyes Closed” as the second track to drop from the upcoming album.
“I had been working on Subtract for a decade, trying to sculpt the perfect acoustic album, writing and recording hundreds of songs with a clear vision of what I thought it should be. Then at the start of 2022, a series of events changed my life, my mental health, and ultimately the way I viewed music and art,” Sheeran previously shared.
