Coronation Street star Daniel Brocklebank had to make a dash to the hospital this week after an accident at home involving a knife. The 40-year-old actor took to Twitter to thank the “utterly amazing” NHS staff at the hospital for fixing him up.

The soap star told his 97,900 followers that he had a “small accident” in his kitchen which required treatment on his hand.

He wrote online last night: “Had a small accident in the kitchen today involving a knife & my hand..”

The actor went on to thank the hospital staff for their help: “These guys deserve so much more than they get! Thank you for gluing me together!”

Twitter followers and fans took to the comments section of the post to wish the ITV star a speedy recovery.

“Sounds painful, hope you’re ok and injury doesn’t take too long to heal,” one user wrote.

Another added: “Ooh.. that sounded nasty…dont know where we’d be without them.. maybe stick to spoons from now on hun..take care n stay safe.”(sic)

“Ouch, hope you’re OK. Yes, NHS staff are truly amazing,” a third social media user remarked.

Daniel’s accident comes one day after he shared a picture from the set of Coronation Street on social media.

The actor is now back at work after several months off after production of the programme was halted due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The cast and crew are now following strict social distancing rules on set, which have been implemented to restrict the spread of the deadly disease.

“It’s a socially distanced #Rovers day here @itvcorrie,” the Billy Mayhew actor captioned the snap which he posted on Twitter.

He could be seen, in costume, at Weatherfield’s local pub The Rovers Return.
