Chris Evans issues scathing response to Donald Trump's speech
Chris Evans has joined fellow Avengers star Mark Ruffalo to issue some scathing critiques of Donald Trump’s speech overnight.
The world is still awaiting the results of the US presidential election, with neither Trump nor Joe Biden having achieved the 270 electoral votes needed to clinch a victory yet.
Having spent the past three days accusing the Democrats of voter fraud, and launching lawsuits in some states, Trump issued a statement on Thursday evening.
The president told the press conference that he ‘easily wins’ the election if ‘legal’ votes are counted, and illegal ballots discarded. Trump went on to make unfounded claims that ‘secret counting rooms’ were being used to add to Biden’s total.
Addressing the press conference on Twitter Captain America actor Evans came up with the latest nickname for the leader, dubbing Trump a ‘come-to-life toilet’.
He reached out to Republican followers of Trump directly, as he wrote: ‘Wow. Hey Republicans, are you listening to this come-to-life toilet spew complete lies about the integrity of our democratic process?’
However it’s hardly the first time Evans has shared his views on the current president, after he last month referred to Trump’s brain as a ‘scribble’, following comments on seniors.
For those who have been keeping tabs on Evans over the past however-long, you’ll know the dude is not afraid to let his political allegiance come through on his social media – and he’s not the biggest fan of Trump and his party.
Not only did he re-tweet a zinger of a message from his brother Scott earlier this week, taking the mick out of Mike Pence #flygate, but he was more than willing to slam the president after he made some bold claims following his release from hospital after his Covid-19 diagnosis.
Trump, 74, was discharged from the Walter Reed Medical Center in October where he received the best healthcare and treatment after testing positive for coronavirus last week.
Before leaving the military hospital, Trump tweeted in part: ‘Feeling really good! Don’t be afraid of Covid. Don’t let it dominate your life.’
Reacting to the statement, a stunned Evans, 39, tweeted: ‘Don’t be afraid of Covid?! You’ve been under round-the-clock care by the best doctors using the best drugs. Do you really think everyone has access to that?!’
He added: ‘Sadly, I’m sure you’re aware of that disparity, you just don’t care This is reckless to a shocking degree, even for you.’
