Chris Evans missed his regular slot on Virgin Radio after testing positive for Covid. The 55-year-old has taken the day off as his show replacement addressed the DJ’s health woes.

Sam Pinkham stepped in as Chris’ replacement and shared a health update with listeners.

He was joined by show regulars Rachel Horne and Vassos Alexander.

Sam explained that Chris had been “feeling dodgy” after being on-air yesterday.

He added that the Virgin Radio host would be absent from his show as he follows government guidelines.

Sam commented: “Chris was feeling dodgy yesterday. If you’re listening, I hope you’re feeling better. He’s taking today off.”

He then confirmed that Chris had tested positive for coronavirus and is currently at home following government guidelines.

The news comes after the Virgin Radio host returned to work and confirmed he had been in contact with someone who had the virus.

Speaking on the show, Chris said: “Good morning to The Frothy Coffee Man [Hiten Vora]. He’s got Covid again.

“He’s really struggling. I hope you’re getting better. And it was his birthday on Saturday.”

The radio host explained that his personal assistant was not able to celebrate their birthday due to falling ill.

Chris added that his pal was on holiday with him and his family last month.

“He was away with us,” he mused. “So we thought we all had Covid.”

Chris continued: “We did all of the tests but nobody had it. Only The Frothy Coffee Man tested positive.

“It’s so weird. [Covid] is around and it’s here to stay it would seem.”

The radio host also claimed that coronavirus cases are going up in the area where he lives.

He added that “we all have to do what we can” to stay safe and stop the spread of the virus.

Earlier this year, Chris was rushed to the hospital after suffering from kidney stones.

In February, he said: “[I] thought I had trapped wind and general ‘man pain’ most of Saturday.

“Took paracetamol and waited for nature to take its course. That didn’t happen. Late Saturday night my wife called 111 and we were advised to go to A&E. Which we did.”

After undergoing scans he said “It was clear I had a kidney stone on the move.”

The radio host made a full recovery after undergoing an operation.

Chris Evans’ Virgin Radio Breakfast Show airs weekdays from 6.30am.
