Camilla laughs off drama on first outing since Harry labelled her ‘a villain’
Queen Consort Camilla has carried out her first official engagement since the release of stepson Prince Harry's explosive autobiography Spare, in which he made several damning claims about his stepmother.
Camilla, 75, broke cover on 18 January as she visited the University of Aberdeen, where she looked around the university's new Science Teaching Hub.
She appeared to be in good spirits as she mingled with students and staff members, who presented her with a bouquet of flowers during the visit.
Camilla, who is the chancellor of the university, wore black trousers and boots, paired with a long khaki green coat and a white blouse featured frills across the neckline and cuffs.
She chatted to students who were looking at dinosaur fossils in the labs, before taking to the stage to deliver a speech at the university.
Camilla's outing comes after her stepson Harry, 38, made several claims about her in his memoir Spare, and branded her a "villain" in a TV interview.
In his book, the dad-of-two revealed how he feared Camilla, who wed King Charles in 2005, would be a "wicked stepmother", accused her of campaigning to become Queen and told how he begged his father not to marry her.
He also claimed that Camilla leaked stories to the press about members of the Royal Family in order to rehabilitate her own image.
Harry took part in several TV interviews to promote his memoir, including one with Anderson Cooper on CBS's 60 Minutes.
Speaking about Camilla during the revealing chat, Harry said: "She was the villain, she was a third person in the marriage, she needed to rehabilitate her image.
"That made her dangerous because of the connections that she was forging within the British press. And there was open willingness on both sides to trade information and with a family built on hierarchy, and with her on the way to being Queen Consort, there was going to be people or bodies left in the street because of that."
However, during an appearance on Good Morning America, Harry said he didn't think Camilla was a "wicked stepmother" and had a "huge amount of compassion for her".
He also revealed he hasn't spoken to her for a long time. Harry said: "She's my stepmother. I don't look at her as an evil stepmother.
"I see someone who married into this institution and has done everything that she can to improve her own reputation and her own image for her own sake."
