Big Brother star Lauren Harries put in induced coma as family ask for prayers
Celebrity Big Brother icon Lauren Harries has been put in a medically induced coma after having a seizure last night (June 4).
An update issued to the reality star's Twitter page reads: "Last night Lauren had a seizure and doctors have had to put her into an induced coma to get it under control."
The heartfelt message continues: "Lauren needs all your support and wishes, she loves you all."
Lauren, 45, has been keeping fans updated on her health after undergoing emergency brain surgery in April. The reality star’s health concerns began after she suffered a series of painful headaches and blackouts, with no obvious condition or cause behind them.
Artist Lauren and her mother, Katy, have continually kept fans in the loop regarding her health woes via social media, with the latest update garnering well wishes from followers.
One fan said: "So sorry to hear this news about Lauren. Sending all my love to Lauren and her family, and praying for a fast full recovery. With all my love and prayers, Teresa".
Another said: "Thoughts to Lauren", while a third commented: "Hold on in there Mum and hope someone is looking after you too."
Another added: "Sending much love to Lauren. Also for all your family as it must be so hard for you all".
While another wrote: "Sending out my healing thoughts to her."
After being admitted to hospital in April, Lauren shared a brief update with fans letting them know that while she was then "on the mend," she had nearly died.
Lauren underwent her emergency brain surgery on April 14, with her mum posting an update the following day to Lauren's Twitter account letting fans know that she was recovering well.
She penned: "Lauren has woken up after her brain surgery. They had to shave her hair. As you know this is Lauren's worst nightmare but she would have died if not.
"The amazing staff in the Heath Hospital have been wonderful. Thank you for your kind words, her recovery ahead. Update to follow."
Throughout her recovery, both Lauren and Katy have been sure to thank people for their kind words, get-well cards and flowers. They've also thanked the doctors and nurses at the NHS for their help and support, and for saving Lauren's life.
Now, nearly two months on from her surgery, the Celebrity Big Brother alum has suffered a seizure. To help her heal, she's been put in an induced coma, which, according to RN.com is "performed on critically ill patients", and "has been used for a quarter of a century or more to put the brain in a state of temporary hibernation to allow time for the brain to recuperate".
