Audra McDonald Sings Song Written By Fiona Apple On ‘Central Park’
Audra McDonald sang “New York Doesn’t Like Your Face,” a song written by Fiona Apple, on the Season 1 finale of Apple TV+‘s musical cartoon, “Central Park,” that aired on Friday (July 24).
Audra lent her voice for the Central Park character Ashley. The lyrics, aimed to motivate Bitsy, a character voiced by Stanley Tucci, go like this: “Devise a plan to make them stand you, that’s what it’s all about / Bitsy, it’s the only way to cultivate the clout / Haven’t you ever wondered, dear, why your staff all carry cans of mace?”
Apple co-wrote the song with David Lucky, the man she has described as “one of my favorite people in the world.”
Emmy Award-winner Loren Bouchard created and wrote “Central Park,” and executive produced it alongside Josh Gad and Nora Smith. Sanjay Shah and Halsted Sullivan also served as executive producers of the series.
The finale of the animated series also featured Cyndi Lauper, Aimee Mann, Sara Bareilles, and several other stars.
