Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson Reportedly End Engagement and Split Up
TMZ was the first to report this afternoon that pop singer Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson have ended their engagement and called it quits. TMZ‘s sources told the media outlet that the two — who seemed very much in love even during recent interactions — “split this weekend, with both parties acknowledging that it simply was not the right time for their relationship to take off.”
TMZ‘s sources also stated that “the two still have love” for one another. However, the sources also state clearly “things are over romantically.”
People Magazine has confirmed TMZ’s report. Their own source close to Ariana said, “It was way too much too soon. ”
TMZ‘s reporting says the split was “amicable.” However, it is not yet obvious who initiated the breakup, or if it was truly a mutual decision.
As reported here earlier, Ariana has been through an intense period of stress recently, but most especially after the death of her “dearest friend” and ex Mac Miller. And while it looked as if Ariana might have found a means of coping by jumping into work on her next album — even while her current album Sweetener is still relatively fresh on the shelves following its release in mid-August — there were still signs that she was suffering from a great deal of stress.
As for Pete, he himself came under intense criticism on social media and from women’s groups two weeks ago when, on Saturday Night Live, he poked fun at himself about how out of his league he was in his relationship with Ariana, and even joked that he was replacing Ariana’s birth control pills with “tic tacs” so that she could never leave him.
No word, as of yet, if that SNL appearance had any effect on the split. Also, there is no word on who will be getting the couple’s newly adopted pet, Piggy Smalls.
We will have updates on this story as more details come out.
