Our Yorkshire Farm’s Amanda and Clive Owen yesterday confirmed their marriage is going through a “rocky patch”, but it appears her mother knew nothing about this. Her mum Joyce Livingstone was “gobsmacked” when she heard their statement.
In a statement, which was released to the PA news agency, the couple said: “With the TV show and the books we’ve always aimed to show the reality of life on the farm, and just like any marriage we have our stresses and strains, coupled with all the complexities of what we do on the farm and bringing up nine kids.
“We’re a normal family and we’ve never said our marriage is perfect.
“Unfortunately the constant intrusion into our lives from the media has amplified a rocky patch that we’re going through.
“We ask that the media respect our privacy as we work through this.”
The Yorkshire shepherdess and her husband’s living arrangements have reportedly become “the talk of the village”, but Joyce was none the wiser.
Addressing their marital woes, she admitted: “I am gobsmacked.”
Claiming that her daughter had failed to tell her what was happening, she continued: “There was absolutely no hint of any trouble.
“We watched the programmes on the television, and it did not look like there was anything wrong.
“I have had no contact with anyone. I just don’t know anything.
“As far I am concerned their marriage is rock solid,” she told MailOnline.
Neighbours told the paper yesterday that the Our Yorkshire Farm duo had been living apart for months, after Amanda “got caught up in the spotlight” of the Channel 5 programme.
Amanda reportedly moved into their rental property down the road from Ravenseat Farm in Swaledale, North Yorkshire, while Clive is believed to be staying in the farmhouse.

The couple are allegedly “battling to save their marriage” of 21 years for the sake of their own happiness as well as for their nine children, whose ages range from 20 to four.
Clive was previously married to his first wife for 13 years before he met Amanda and is reportedly “desperate” to save their marriage but “fears” they will divorce.
The couple released a joint statement, saying they’d “never said our marriage is perfect”.
The Owens are back on screens with a brand new series of Our Yorkshire Farm, which has attracted fans in droves since it first aired back in 2018.
The documentary series follows the lives of Amanda, Clive and their nine children: Raven, 20, Reuben, 18, Miles, 15, Edith, 12, Violet, 10, Sidney, nine, Annas seven, Clemmy, six, and Nancy, four.
Now in its fifth series, Our Yorkshire Farm is Channel 5’s most-watched factual show ever with almost four million viewers each week.
Huddersfield born Amanda once tried to break into the world of modelling like her mother, Joan, before pursuing a completely different path as a shepherdess.
Our Yorkshire Farm airs Tuesdays at 9pm on Channel 5.
