The Beatles REUNION: ‘Ringo Starr and I get bl**dy emotional’ admits Paul McCartney
Both John Lennon and George Harrison are gone, but Sir Paul McCartney and Sir Ringo Starr still have the occasional Beatles reunion. The most recent occurred last year in Los Angeles on Sir Paul’s solo tour. When the drummer joined him on stage for a rendition of Helter Skelter.
Now Sir Paul has admitted that moments like these make him and Sir Ringo very emotional.
Speaking with PA, the 78-year-old said: “In 2019 when I finished touring in Los Angeles, Ringo got up on stage and we were doing Helter Skelter together.
“And he’s drumming away and I’m singing facing front because I was on the mic.
“But when I wasn’t on the mic, in the solo breaks and stuff, I really made a point of turning round and watching this guy drum.”

Sir Paul continued: “And I’m thinking, my god, you know the memories across this 10-yard gap here.
“Him on the drums and me on the bass, the lifetime that’s going on here.
“So, you know, it’s a sort of magic.
“And he and I these days get quite emotional about it, because we should.”
The Beatle added: “We ought to.
“It’s a bl**dy emotional thing, the years. If nothing else.”
Sir Ringo celebrated his 80th birthday at the beginning of the month.
On the day, the drummer put on a Big Birthday Show on his YouTube channel, in which his last Beatles reunion with Sir Paul took place.

The two surviving members of the Fab Four are collaborating on Beautiful Night.
The track featured on Sir Paul’s 1997 Flaming Pie album, which is set for a re-release as part of The Paul McCartney Archive Collection.
It will feature 32 bonus tracks and a 128-page book.
While the latter will contain unseen photographs taken by Linda McCartney.
Sir Paul said of his new collaboration with Sir Ringo: “I had this song Beautiful Night which I’d written quite a few years ago. I’d always liked it but I felt I didn’t quite have the right version of it.
“So I got this song out for when Ringo was coming in, and right away it was like the old days.
“I realised we hadn’t done this for so long, but it was really comfortable and it was still there.”
The Paul McCartney Archive Collection will be released on July 31, 2020.
