Britney Spears Granted 5-Year Restraining Order Against Former Manager

Britney Spears has been granted a 5-year restraining order against her former manager Sam Lutfi.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny extended a previous temporary restraining order against Lutfi.

The judge has ordered Lutfi, who has been in legal fights with the Spears family for a decade, to stay at least 200 yards from the pop star, her parents and her two sons or making disparaging comments about them on social media.

A temporary restraining order against Lutfi was first set on May 8. Spears’ lawyers had alleged that that tweets and texts from Lutfi about or to Spears and her family were causing the singer emotional damage.

Per court documents, “Mr. Lutfi has sent harassing and threatening texts and tweets to Ms. Spears’ family.”

The judge rejected the argument made by Lutfi’s lawyer Marc Gans that the restraining order is an unconstitutional restraint on his client’s free speech.

In January, Courtney Love and her daughter Frances Bean Cobain also secured a permanent restraining order against Lutfi. The judge who extended the five-year PRO noted that Lutfi “seems to prey upon people.”
